Phil Reevell
I make radio documentaries and podcasts - most recently for The Times with The Times Tech Podcast and the Election Shortcut. For the World Service, the Inquiry explored how undersea cables have been cut in the Baltic Sea, while the documentary On the Front Page Frontline looked at the challenge facing local newspapers in America during the election campaign. For BBC Radio 4 I produced How Real is the Existential Threat from AI?
I’m an honorary professor at Stirling University where I teach an annual podcast production course and summer school.
On this site I’ve featured some of my most memorable projects - in-depth reporting of America’s opioid epidemic in Kentucky and gun crime in Chicago; the US Presidential elections of 2016 and 2020, as well as the UK elections of 2017 and 2019. I’ve made programmes about landscapes, including a BBC Food Chain on the people who produce wine and olive oil on the slopes of Etna in Sicily.
I’ve run my own independent production company, responsible for executive producing long-running series - a weekly discussion about the Trump Presidency; Jim O’Neill series about future of the US dollar; and listener programmes Feedback for Radio 4 and Over to You for the World Service.
I’ve edited magazines, written weekly columns, and once launched a TV channel for Manchester.
